A few important reminders for first-time bar owners
James Haidak is a DJ who has interests in various, other fields such as environmental protection and business. For the latter, he has focused his time on researching on how to get the most out of the restaurant business. And to take things one step further, James Haidak shares what he knows via his series of blogs.
For today, James Haidak focuses on important things bar owners should know when they open their first bar.
Bars and restaurants are similar. The main difference is that bars normally experience their peak hours at night, after dinner. The common misconception, however, is that first-time bar owners think that managing a bar is simple. Have enough liquor, organize a few nights of live music or entertainment a week, and have a few promos. However, James Haidak says that there’s a lot more to running a bar than just those things, and that many of a bar owner’s problems are unique only to bars.
For example, bars may have regular patrons, but not a lot. Because of this, bar owners will need to think of regular gimmicks to attract customers.
Bars also need more permits than the usual food establishment. Permits to sell alcohol need to be there on top of permits for food and safety.
However, one of the most important reminders James Haidak offers is the fact that bar owners may have to deal with unruly customers on a regular basis. Alcohol leads to this reality. That being said, bar owners need to invest in security personnel on top of bartenders and waiters.
James Haidak is a DJ from Amsterdam. He gives tips on sound production as well as on running restaurants, traveling, and helping the environment. For more about James and his passions, check out this blog.
